The Human Resources Intern is an in-house consultant to CPC Board members for recruitment and selection activities, policy formulation and implementation, and employee and volunteer advocacy. The Human Resource Intern assists CPC Board members in the formulation and implementation of employee and volunteer management programs. Additionally, the Human Resource Intern is responsible for the recruitment, scheduling, and recognition of all CPC volunteers.
Responsibilities include:
- ·Advising the CPC Board members on recruitment and selection procedures, legal issues regarding employees and volunteers, compensation issues, training issues, and employee and volunteer development issues.
- ·Conducting research into best practices for children’s museums regarding Human Resource practices.
- ·Continuously developing and maintaining the volunteer management program.
- ·Maintaining the employee, intern, and volunteer filing systems.
- ·Maintaining and updating all staff, board member, and intern/volunteer policy information.
- ·Measuring intern/volunteer performance through performance appraisals.
- ·Updating and maintaining the staffing plan.
- ·Assisting the Board of Directors in recruitment and selection procedures for CPC staff.
- ·Maintaining communication with other children’s museums regarding their employee and volunteer programs and practices.
- ·Recruiting and scheduling volunteers to help with special events, the annual fundraiser, and work in the CPC office.
- ·Other duties as assigned.

Availability:
All Semester internships are available. The majority of the work can be done outside of the museum on an independent schedule, or during special events and programs. Regular meetings with Board and volunteers is required. This intern is expected to work an average of 12-15 hours/week.
