The Education & Programming Intern assists in the development and implementation of interactive programs, events and activities that educate and excite children in the learning process. The Education Intern is also responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with area teachers and schools.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing educational programs, events and activities for children using Howard Gardner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligences, Search Institutes 40 Assets, and Learning for Life Character Education.
- ·Assisting staff with scheduling and organizing field trips and programs.
- ·Recruiting and scheduling volunteers for special events and programs.
- ·Researching educational activities and exhibits by contacting other children’s organization concerning their exhibit and program development, using the web, and reviewing written resources.
- ·Developing and maintaining relationships with area schools and teachers in order to gain ideas and possible support for CPC educational programs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Preferred:
- ·Elementary education majors.
- ·Ability to be creative and inventive.
- ·Love of children.
- ·Enthusiasm and high level of energy.
- ·Knowledge and practice of mediation and reconciliation steps
Availability:
All Semester internships are available. The position requires occasional weekday, weeknight, and weekend day availability. This intern is expected to work an average of 8-10 hours/week.
